The Aestus Quartet was established at the Royal Northern College of Music where all four are postgraduate students. They started playing together in 2021 and are winners of the Weil Chamber Music Prize. Their name is inspired by Britten’s String Quartet No 2, because its beginning is evocative of the back and forth flow of the sea tide (aestus in Latin). They have been shaping their ensemble skills through a repertoire ranging from classical to romantic to modern.
