Agatha Parkin with The Ediva Trio (formerly the Britten Trio)

A Grantham Music Club Concert.

Recently formed at the Royal Academy of Music, this international ensemble includes local violinist Agatha Parkin, who has performed in and around Grantham since she was seven. She is joined by pianist Hayden Miller and cellist Tianao Pan. After their very positive reception at the Academy and coaching from Adrian Brendel, Anthony Marwood and The Barbican Quartet, Agatha is delighted to bring The Ediva Trio to Grantham for their first public performance.

Agatha Parkin won the Grantham Music Festival Open String Repertoire trophy three times by the time she was twelve and gave her first solo recital at St Wulfram's, when she was thirteen, subsequently performing Vaughan Williams' 'The Lark Ascending' there in 2021. Her 2023 lunchtime recital at Nottingham Theatre Royal drew an audience of over two hundred people. Last year Agatha was awarded a major scholarship by the Royal Academy of Music, where she continues her studies (begun when she was twelve) with Prof. Rodney Friend, renowned orchestral leader and violinist with the highly regarded Solomon Trio.

Hayden Miller is from Houston, where he received a diploma in Piano Performance from the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. A 2023 YoungArts winner, he also received top prizes in the Oberlin Piano Competition and Houston International Music Competition. His performances have been featured on multiple radio programmes, as well as at PianoTexas, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the International Florence Price Festival. He recently made his debut in Italy at the Brancaleoni International Music Festival. Hayden is the recipient of the WH and George Myddleton Award of the Royal Academy of Music, where he currently studies with Mei-Ting Sun.

Tianao Pan started playing piano at the age of three, and cello at age of seven. His early studies were at the Special School of Young Musicians of the Central Conservatory in Beijing, followed by the Beijing Central Conservatory Middle School. Tianao was vice principal cellist of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra (2017-2018) and also principal cellist of the Chinese Youth Orchestra. In September 2018, he joined the Purcell School, where he studied with Pal Banda and won the school's concerto competition. He was invited to play the Haydn Cello Concerto and Tchaikovsky Rococo Variations with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and Beijing Symphony Orchestra and also gave a solo concert at the Beijing National Concert Hall. Tianao is now a scholar at the Royal Academy of Music.
