Body of Light threads dance & technology together to generate a mesmerizing marriage of creativity. Darren Pritchard’s choreography is performed as a solo by Adam Russel but this contemporary piece of dance isn’t really a solo at all. It is a duet between dancer & light. Using the technology of a Microsoft Kinect, projected images & the dancer’s body entwine & react off one another to bring a unique entity to this contemporary piece of dance. Merged into the performance is a cleverly crafted bespoke soundscape, using everyday domestic appliances. Washing machines rattle, the sound of a cooking microwave, blowing hairdryers, the buzzing of a fridge. But who is in control? The dancer or the light
Once you have seen the show in action, you’ll want to control the lights & patterns yourself. Well you can. Create shapes, change colours, form patterns through your own movements & have the feeling of being controlled by the technology & lights. Get to talk to the team about how it all works in the Body of Light workshops held directly after performances
