To celebrate their diamond jubilee season, Grantham Operatic Society presents Rogers & Hammerstein’s ever-popular musical “Carousel”. Written in 1945, this is a show packed with musical numbers well-known to most audiences, and football fans alike. The story follows the exploits of a carousel barker, Billy Bigalow, and a young mill worker Julie Jordan, who falls for him despite his vile temper. When he finds out he is to become a father he takes part in a robbery with disastrous consequences and he dies. Time passes and he is able to leave the after-life for a day and meet his daughter.
