Helen Manchas
Join us for an enchanting exhibition featuring the vibrant and eccentric works of Helen Manchas, a local Grantham artist with a fascinating story.
Born in Nottingham, Helen’s journey began overseas when her family moved to the Middle East for her father’s work with the United Nations. Her years abroad, including a transformative chapter in Cyprus where she met her husband, a U.S. Marine, shaped her adventurous spirit. After living in the United States for 45 years and raising a family, Helen returned to England just before the 2020 lockdown and made Grantham her permanent home—a decision she considers one of her best yet.
Retirement brought a new passion: art. Helen’s creations are a true reflection of her whimsical personality, featuring mixed media techniques with acrylic markers, colored markers, and, of course, her signature touch of glitter. Her muse? The delightful Miss Holly, her beloved black cat. Look closely, and you’ll find little black cats playfully hidden in many of her pieces, adding a unique charm to her vibrant work.
Each piece is entirely original—Helen does not create prints or copies—ensuring every artwork is one of a kind. She also takes on commissions, bringing her joyful style to personal requests.
Come experience the magic of Helen’s art, where sparkle meets personality, and every brushstroke tells a story. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover pieces that will brighten your day and your space!
