Next Stage Productions Grantham presents Les Misérables School Edition. One of the world’s most iconic and longest-running musicals, Les Misérables is a story of love, compassion, and redemption. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France and the aftermath of the French Revolution, this epic tale of destiny takes the audience on an emotional roller-coaster ride.
In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter. Performed by students of Next Stage Productions Grantham this timeless classic is not to be missed.
With the original show performed in over 40 countries and 22 languages, this powerful musical features such famed songs as “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” and “Bring Him Home,” and brings Victor Hugo’s revolutionary novel blazingly to life.
